Aloka Ultrasound Introduces Veterinary Enhancements in ProSound Alpha 7
6/1/2009
Aloka Ultrasound will showcase the ProSound Alpha 7, its powerful, compact premium diagnostic ultrasound system at the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM) Forum in Montreal, Quebec, June 4-6, 2009.
WALLINGFORD, CT - June 1, 2009 - Aloka Ultrasound will showcase the ProSound Alpha 7, its powerful, compact premium diagnostic ultrasound system at the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM) Forum in Montreal, Quebec, June 4-6, 2009.
Participants in the ACVIM Forum’s feline and canine ultrasound labs and canine cardiac lab will have the opportunity for hands-on scanning using the ProSound Alpha 7. The systems will also be on display at Aloka booth 912 at ACVIM.
The Alpha 7’s relevant clinical applications for veterinary internal medicine, radiology, and cardiology include:
- Imaging performance enhancements with Broadband Harmonics™, Extended Pure Harmonic Detection™ (ExPHD), and high temporal resolution, which are especially useful when imaging larger animals.
- Trapezoidal Scanning for wider aperture for vascular imaging.
- High Definition Extended Field of View (EFV) to create a panoramic image of the entire anatomical structure.
- Adaptive Image Processing (AIP) to clearly display boundary outlines and differences in tissues by reducing speckle noise while maintaining the frame rate.
Exceptional cardiac imaging is a result of the Alpha 7’s comprehensive cardiac package with Strain and Strain Rate myocardial analysis, as well as the following features for optimal imaging performance:
- Free Angular M-Mode (FAM) lets you attain an M-mode image without relying upon the patient’s position. FAM is useful in patients with vertical hearts and for asynchrony assessment. It allows for three separate cursor interrogations from each view scanned.
- Directional eFLOW displays high resolution blood flow with directional information. It is useful for depicting regurgitant and shunt lesions in the heart for more accurate quantification analysis.
- Tissue Doppler provides accurate diastolic function quantification.
- Contrast Harmonic Echo is compatible with ultrasound contrast agents of high, medium and low sound pressure.
Data management features include extensive data storage capabilities, such as USB and DVD storage for peer review, and image reconstruction. Veterinarians can create an M-Mode image from a B-Mode scan after the exam is completed.
The ProSound Alpha 7 employs a full ergonomic design with height adjustable console and is the smallest, lightest system in its class. Environmentally friendly, the ProSound Alpha 7 consumes 40% less electricity than previous models.
